Puppy Notification Lists:
Our puppies generate a lot of interest and go pretty quickly. If you would like to be
contacted when a dog whelps just e-mail the breeder to be put on his/her puppy
notification list. This will assure you that you are in the running for getting a puppy.
Reserving a Puppy:
Reserving a puppy requires a $100 deposit that is applied towards the purchase price. Deposits
are non-refundable.
Health Guarantee:
All of our puppies come with a written health guarantee against any major
defects in the puppy's health. Buyers are expected to have their puppy vet checked during this time period.
Each breeder provides their own individual health guarantee, please contact the breeder of the puppy you are
intereted in if you'd like to review their guarantee prior to purchase.
Socialization:
Our puppies receive lots of attention from us. Around four weeks of age we start
introducing the puppies to our Puppy Playlands. Puppy Playlands contain all sorts of
things for the puppies to crawl on and over, things that shift under them, rattle,
squeak, and clang. We've even added wading pools for them to cool off in during the hot summer months
and they love it!
It is our aim to introduce as many things to the puppies as possible to help them
become more self-assured when encountering new and unusual things in life. By the time
they are ready to go to their new families they will be as well socialized as a young
puppy can be!
Docking and Dew Claws:
By three days of age our puppies are docked and have their dew claws removed. If a puppy is a
natural bobtail we make sure to specify that on the litter page.
Lifetime Placement Service:
If during the life of your puppy you decide that you can no longer keep your puppy,
the breeder will gladly accept it back to find it another home. There will be no refund or kennel
fee for this service. We never want our puppies to end up in a shelter!
Diet:
All puppies are fed high quality puppy foods and should remain on the same food or one of the better quality foods
such as Flint River Ranch, Diamond, Eukanuba, Iams, or Nature's Choice until they are a year old. Then they need to be
placed on the same type of adult food. Your breeder will specify which brand your puppy has been on when you pick him/her up.
If you feed store brands such as Ole Roy, your puppy may
develop skin disorders or have poor health because of the poor nutritional value in those types of
foods.
You need to feed according to your puppy's weight with the directions on your bag of food.
If your puppy tends to be over weight you may need to decrease the amount you are feeding or use a
lower calorie food.
Please do not feed your puppy table food or people snacks. If you start this
habit it is a hard one to break. It can lead to serious health problems such as obesity, pancreatitis,
and even diabetes.
Preventatives:
Each breeder takes preventative steps to help ensure that all puppies leave the premises free of fleas, ticks and heartworms.
It is the new owner's responsibility to maintain a preventative such as Interceptor. This product can
be purchased at your local veterinarian's or he/she may recommend other products such
as Revolution, Heartguard, or Sentinel for heartworm prevention, and/or Advantage or
Frontline for flea and tick control. Products sold at local stores for flea and tick
control do not work very well and it would be better to invest your money in a product
that works.
Vaccinations:
All puppies are started on a vaccination program that begins at 6 weeks of age and is
continued every 3 weeks until the puppy is 15 weeks old. At that time it is also
required to have a Rabies shot. The age of your puppy when you purchase it will
determine when its next shot will be due. It is the new owner's responsibility to
keep all vaccinations current as to prevent diseases such as Parvo and Distemper.
All puppies are wormed every two or three weeks, depending on the brand the breeder is using,
to prevent round and hook worms.
Intestinal Parasites:
All puppies are wormed on a regular basis to prevent round and hook worms. We try to make sure that all
puppies are free of all intestinal parasites, however, an occasional parasite such as round and/or hook worms,
coccidosis, or giardia slip through treatment. Internal parasites are to be expected and are associated with
having a puppy. It is the new owner's responsibility to treat the puppy for these minor things and any
expenses acquired are not reimbursed. However, we would greatly appreciate it if you would relay such findings
so that we can prevent others.
